Final UBC video project — Free Tibet!!

August 5, 2009

It may be a few months after the fact, but the final video project of my group of journalism students is now online at thethunderbird.ca. All respect to video journalists — it’s tough, time consuming work! Fortunately, I had the help of former CTV reporter Rosemary Keevil Fairburn and Aaron Tam, currently interning with Reuters in Hong Kong.

The narrator is my Afghanistan-residing classmate Ryan Fletcher, who had the coolest accent of the bunch and was therefore the man on the spot. My favourite part is his stand-in shot on Granville Street just before the bridge (and right by Granville Island — “This protest…”). Ryan and I had to sprint ahead of marching protesters to get to the park just below the street.

I’m really looking forward to my advanced TV course this fall: a chance to get beyond the basics and to hone my skills in another medium.
