Week 1 at the Globe & Mail

March 24, 2009

My first week at the Globe & Mail has been quite the experience. My first press conference featured reporters from rival TV stations fighting over rights to footage, I went all the way out to New Westminster for a story that changed halfway through (and then re-emerged), and in Friday’s paper I wrote the story on the avalanche deaths in McBride, BC:

Saturday, March 27: Man in hotel shot in the arm, S4.

Friday, March 26: Snowmobilers’ bodies found after avalanche, S1

Friday, March 26: Second evacuation ordered in New Westminster, S2

Thursday, March 26: Apartment evacuated after explosives found, S2

Wednesday, March 25: Train was going too fast before fatal derailment, S3.

Wednesday, March 25: Man killed by police was no criminal, family says, S2.

Tuesday, March 24: Witness claims police erased video, S3.
